Shlomit Rising: A Partnership of Destiny, Adat Yeshurun, Jewish National Fund and Shlomit
Please join us for a special joint event hosted by Congregation Adat Yeshurun and JNF US on Monday, May 6th at 7:00 p.m. This event marks a significant milestone as we come together to support the community of Shlomit for the first time. In this pivotal moment for Israel and global Jewry, Adat demonstrates our enduring bond by partnering with Shlomit, a small religious community bordering Egypt and Gaza. On October 7th, they heroically defended a neighboring community, tragically suffering loss of life and injuries. Our mission is to tangibly show our love through connection, funding, and rebuilding.
At this event meet Yedidya, born and raised in Gush Katif, Gaza Strip. Forced to leave their home during Israel's disengagement in 2005, Yedidya and his family embody resilience and determination. Committed to realizing the amazing vision of making the desert bloom, Yedidya has led the way in building the Halutza communities of Shlomit, Naveh, and Bnei Netzarim into vibrant oases of love, joy, faith, and opportunity. As a decorated IDF soldier, Yedidya's elite reserve unit played a critical role during Operation Protective Edge in Gaza in 2014. Even in the aftermath of October 7th, he answered the call to serve again, showcasing his unwavering dedication.
Shlomit, situated in the northwestern Negev on Israel's borders with Egypt and Gaza, stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Founded by a group of families evacuated from the Gush Katif communities of Atzmona and Netzarim, Shlomit emerged from the barren desert as a beacon of hope and perseverance. The Halutza communities, including Shlomit, Naveh, and Bnei Netzarim, represent Israel's pioneering ethos, transforming arid lands into flourishing landscapes of joy, love, spirituality, and togetherness. These communities not only cultivate successful desert agriculture businesses but also foster a deep sense of devotion to Am Israel, serving as an inspiration to others to join in the region's growth and development.
Following this event, we invite you to join us for the Adat Stands with Israel Gala on May 26th, where we will continue to celebrate and support the goals of Shlomit.
